What Is the Gospel?

What Is the Gospel?

We believe that God wants to have a loving relationship with His creation, but we have all turned our back on God, which the Bible calls sin. Because of our sin, we have no peace with God. The punishment for our sin is death and an eternity apart from God, which the Bible calls hell. But God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a sinless life, die on the cross for our sins, and conquer death by raising back to life on the third day.

However, in order to enter into a loving relationship with God, He asks that you do the following:

ADMIT: You must admit that you have sinned against God. Romans 3 says we have all fallen short of His expectations. In light of your admission, you must also turn away from your sinful behavior.

BELIEVE: You must believe that Jesus is who He says He is: that is, that He is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. John 1 says that all who believe in His name will be given the right to become children of God.

CONFESS: We must confess that Jesus is the Lord of our life. Romans 10 says if we confess that Jesus is Lord, we will be saved. Confessing that Jesus is Lord means that you let God call all the shots for your life. You give Him all of who you are by trusting and obeying Him.

But it’s not just a matter of understanding the truth of this – you need to have a conversation with God. This is called prayer. Find a quiet spot and start talking to God. Admit to Him who you are, a sinner. Believe who He is, God and savior of the world, and confess He is the Lord of your life. Your life will never be the same.
