Freedom in the Abundant Life
The Abundant Life is full of joy and freedom from the power of sin if we live by faith. Philippians 3:10 talks about Paul’s desire to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. We obtain the abundant life through justification (Romans 5: 1-9), substitution (Galatians 2:20 and 5:24), and consecration (Romans 12:1). Then we must walk in the Spirit (Romans 5:16-17) and give up works of the flesh (Romans 5: 19-21).

    Look to the Lord
Continuing the Abundant Life series, Bro. Mike discusses 3 things that are important in obtaining the abundant life promised in John 10:10. These include understanding: the value of the blood, consecration (death to sin and death to the law of Moses), and substitution. It is important to understand and apply these principles in our lives to live more abundantly. Exodus 14:1-13; Galatians 2:20, 5:24, 6:14, John 10:10; Romans 6:13, 7:6, 7:24-25, 10:4; Ephesians 6: 2, 6:10 (NKJV)

    Adding Spice to Your Life
The abundant life adds spice to your life through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. One such gift might be a calm spirit in the midst of a storm. You can be a believer and not experience the abundant life. We have to deal with sin until the day we die, but God gives us power over sin. Unfortunately, we don’t always exercise that power. We need to get to the point where we have a calm spirit in the midst of the storms of life. John 10: 10; Luke 13: 10-16 (NKJV)

God wants us to raise our kids in a way that doesn’t bring anger into their lives. Anger is a God-given emotion, but we must direct our anger at the problem and not at the person. Out of control anger can do massive damage and is not what God intended. Ephesians 6:4, 4:26-27 (NKJV)

We Must Be Found in the Blood
Just because God loves you doesn’t mean you are going to Heaven. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us He does not want us to perish but to come to repentance. It is our choice. He sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sin and to be our Advocate. However, we must respond to God’s love by repenting of our sin and asking Jesus to be our Savior. The Abundant Life
Brother Mike introduces this new series on how to live the abundant life. John 10:10 (NKJV) is the theme for this new series. To have the experience of the abundant life, we must align ourselves with scriptures. In order to do this we must read, study and meditate on scripture. Leviticus 16: 2-8, 20-22; Isaiah 53; Romans 1:18, 2:5, 5:9, 5:17; 1 Corinthians 5:7; Hebrews 10: 24-25 (NKJV)

    Change
The main purpose of listening to the New Testament as part of our church’s program, 40 Days of Listening, is “change”. As we listen to God’s Word we should notice a change in our lives. Brother Mike discusses these changes and when God changes your life, He is glorified.

    Be Still
While service is an important part of the Christian life, it sometimes can distract us from other important aspects. We need to be sure that we are making time to listen to, read, and contemplate God’s Word daily. Luke 10: 38-42 (NKJV)

    Sharing the Good News
    Series: Easter
Sometimes distractions get in the way of sharing the good news. In today’s world, cell phones present a huge distraction to many people. They are constantly looking at them, interacting with them, not even noticing the world around them. Satan tried to distract Nehemiah from rebuilding the temple, and he tries to use modern technology to distract us from listening to and following God’s Word. As Christians, we need to be focused on sharing the Good News that Jesus died, was buried and rose on the third day and is alive today! With so many people attached to their cell phones today, we need to help them connect to God through His Word and we can do that with the Bible.is app. (Nehemiah 6:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 NKJV)

    Passion Week
    Series: Easter
The week before Jesus was crucified is discussed in all four Gospels. Many signs and wonders occurred that week, with the catalyst being the resurrection of Lazarus after he had been dead for more than three days. This event initiated the death notice for Jesus by the Pharisees and Sadducees. Brother Mike takes us through this week and to the crucifixion of our Lord. Romans 10:9-11 gives us the purpose of the crucifixion and the resurrection. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

    Engaging the Scriptures-Habit Formation
As we look at a plan for engaging the Scriptures, we look at how to form a habit of doing so. Habit formation is an integral part of our building a relationship with God through His Word. We must develop a plan of action, for a goal without a plan is just a dream. We will look at three parts of forming a habit-a cue, a routine, and a reward. Included in the video are instructions for downloading the app Bible.is that will be used in our 40 Days of Listening program. 2Chronicles 34: 14-21; Acts 2:42 (NKJV)

People Have All Kinds of Needs
Followers of Christ need to engage Scripture, but in our fast paced, technological society people find it difficult to spend time reading their Bibles everyday. So we must look at ways to meet this need in another way. Joshua 1:8; James 1:21; Matthew 12:3; 1 Timothy 4:13 (NKJV)
