    Sharing the Good News
    Series: Easter
Sometimes distractions get in the way of sharing the good news. In today’s world, cell phones present a huge distraction to many people. They are constantly looking at them, interacting with them, not even noticing the world around them. Satan tried to distract Nehemiah from rebuilding the temple, and he tries to use modern technology to distract us from listening to and following God’s Word. As Christians, we need to be focused on sharing the Good News that Jesus died, was buried and rose on the third day and is alive today! With so many people attached to their cell phones today, we need to help them connect to God through His Word and we can do that with the Bible.is app. (Nehemiah 6:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 NKJV)

    Passion Week
    Series: Easter
The week before Jesus was crucified is discussed in all four Gospels. Many signs and wonders occurred that week, with the catalyst being the resurrection of Lazarus after he had been dead for more than three days. This event initiated the death notice for Jesus by the Pharisees and Sadducees. Brother Mike takes us through this week and to the crucifixion of our Lord. Romans 10:9-11 gives us the purpose of the crucifixion and the resurrection. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

The church webpage (https://www.fbcf.org/40-days/) will have information concerning the program as well as a link to a Google Doc participants can complete to register for the program. James 1: 23-25; Luke 24:12 (NIV)

    Engaging the Scriptures-Habit Formation
As we look at a plan for engaging the Scriptures, we look at how to form a habit of doing so. Habit formation is an integral part of our building a relationship with God through His Word. We must develop a plan of action, for a goal without a plan is just a dream. We will look at three parts of forming a habit-a cue, a routine, and a reward. Included in the video are instructions for downloading the app Bible.is that will be used in our 40 Days of Listening program. 2Chronicles 34: 14-21; Acts 2:42 (NKJV)

People Have All Kinds of Needs
Followers of Christ need to engage Scripture, but in our fast paced, technological society people find it difficult to spend time reading their Bibles everyday. So we must look at ways to meet this need in another way. Joshua 1:8; James 1:21; Matthew 12:3; 1 Timothy 4:13 (NKJV)

Marks of Discipleship: Scripture (Part 1)
A review of the first six Marks of Discipleship includes a testimonial from Bob Whitley. Brother Mike introduces the seventh Mark of Discipleship, reflecting on information gathered from three surveys concerning daily Bible reading: Lifeway survey, American Bible Society survey, and his own survey conducted within First Baptist Church, Floresville. Then Brother Mike outlines reasons people gave for not reading the Bible daily and how he plans to address this in the coming weeks. Joshua 1:8; James 1: 18-21 (NKJV)

    Marks of Discipleship: Service
How do we serve God? Matthew 25: 40 says “inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” When we serve each other, we serve God. Matthew 25: 23, 40 (NKJV)

Marks of Discipleship: Community (Find Your Chair)
We’ve discussed generosity, prayer, and personal worship. Today we look at how personal and corporate worship lead to community. While personal time with God is important, if that is all we do-we fall short of what God wants us to do. Psalm 46:10; Matthew 6:33, 18:20; Mark 6:27-32; (NKJV)

    Marks of Discipleship: Worship
We’ve discussed generosity (in our money, time, and talents) and prayer (systematic, urgent, and sacrificial). Today we will discuss a third mark of discipleship-worship, in particular “personal worship”. Acts 20: 7; 1 Corinthians 16:2; Hebrews 10:25; Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV)

    Marks of Discipleship: Prayer
Another mark of discipleship is prayer. Our prayer life should be systematic (everyday), urgent (addressing immediate needs and concerns), and sacrificial (giving up our own desires, possibly fasting, bending to God’s will). As you pray, you will become more intimate with the Lord and you become an extension of Him. Hebrews 5: 8; Matthew 6:7-8; Luke 18:1, 5:16; Mark 1:35; 1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18 (NKJV) Video unavailable.

    Marks of Discipleship-Generosity
As we ready to begin a new year, it is a time for self-examination. As Christians, how generous are we? Do we look out for others? Do we give to further the gospel? Or are we selfish and self-centered. Do we make excuses for not sharing our wealth (whether it is large or small) with others? John 13: 34-35; Galatians 3: 28 (NKJV)

    God’s Perfect Timing
    Series: No Series
We do not always understand God’s timing concerning events in our lives but, as the Christmas story of Jesus’ birth illustrates, God’s time is always perfect. Matthew 1: 18-21; Luke 2: 1-20; Philippians 2:6-8 (NIV) (no video available)
