Christ Is In You
Series: No Series
Colossians speaks to a mystery that once was hidden and now is revealed. That mystery is that, when you become a Christian, Christ dwells within you. This becomes our motivation to share the Gospel with others and to realize the Gospel is meant for all peoples on Earth. We should never discriminate when it comes to sharing God’s Word with others. Colossians 1: 24-29; Matthew 10: 5-6; Ephesians 2: 11-19; Romans 1: 16 (NKJV)

    The Tongue
Romans says to present ourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and our members as instruments of righteousness to God. The tongue is a little member of our body, but the Bible tells us it is an unruly evil, full of poison. The tongue is the organ by which the heart expresses itself and nowhere is faith more visible than by our speech. Romans 6:13; James 3:5-12 (NKJV)

    Slave vs Servant & Ownership
In Philippians, Paul refers to himself as a bond-servant (slave). The difference between being a slave of Christ and a servant of Christ is control. Servants can choose how they wish to serve, but a slave cannot for he/she is owned by God. The word slave denotes that there is a Master. Psalm 24 tells us that everything and everyone belongs to God. Brother Mike expounds on this idea of slave vs. servant and God’s ownership of all things. Philippians 1:1; Psalm 24:1 (NKJV)

    Being Positive
Being positive is not always easy. We are not commanded to direct our feelings because these cannot be controlled directly, only indirectly by controlling our will and our minds. If we are going to effective for God, we have to be positive. To have a positive outlook, we must trust God and be in God’s will. (Mark 4: 35-40 (NKJV)

Must Be Right To Do Right
As we have discussed, the Abundant Life involves Justification, Substitution, and Consecration. These three areas create friction in our lives so we can walk with God. They enable us to “be right” with God and lead to Reconciliation, which enables us to “do right”. These four areas give our lives purpose. Today we learn how reconciliation helps us to “do right”. Galatians 6:; John 21 1-25; John 13: 37-38; Matthew 26: 31-35 (NKJV)

    Freedom in the Abundant Life
The Abundant Life is full of joy and freedom from the power of sin if we live by faith. Philippians 3:10 talks about Paul’s desire to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. We obtain the abundant life through justification (Romans 5: 1-9), substitution (Galatians 2:20 and 5:24), and consecration (Romans 12:1). Then we must walk in the Spirit (Romans 5:16-17) and give up works of the flesh (Romans 5: 19-21).

    Look to the Lord
Continuing the Abundant Life series, Bro. Mike discusses 3 things that are important in obtaining the abundant life promised in John 10:10. These include understanding: the value of the blood, consecration (death to sin and death to the law of Moses), and substitution. It is important to understand and apply these principles in our lives to live more abundantly. Exodus 14:1-13; Galatians 2:20, 5:24, 6:14, John 10:10; Romans 6:13, 7:6, 7:24-25, 10:4; Ephesians 6: 2, 6:10 (NKJV)

    Adding Spice to Your Life
The abundant life adds spice to your life through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. One such gift might be a calm spirit in the midst of a storm. You can be a believer and not experience the abundant life. We have to deal with sin until the day we die, but God gives us power over sin. Unfortunately, we don’t always exercise that power. We need to get to the point where we have a calm spirit in the midst of the storms of life. John 10: 10; Luke 13: 10-16 (NKJV)

God wants us to raise our kids in a way that doesn’t bring anger into their lives. Anger is a God-given emotion, but we must direct our anger at the problem and not at the person. Out of control anger can do massive damage and is not what God intended. Ephesians 6:4, 4:26-27 (NKJV)

We Must Be Found in the Blood
Just because God loves you doesn’t mean you are going to Heaven. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us He does not want us to perish but to come to repentance. It is our choice. He sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sin and to be our Advocate. However, we must respond to God’s love by repenting of our sin and asking Jesus to be our Savior. John 3:16, 10:10; 2 Peter 3:9; Luke 18: 9-13; 1 John 2:1-2 (NKJV)

    The Abundant Life
Brother Mike introduces this new series on how to live the abundant life. John 10:10 (NKJV) is the theme for this new series. To have the experience of the abundant life, we must align ourselves with scriptures. In order to do this we must read, study and meditate on scripture. Leviticus 16: 2-8, 20-22; Isaiah 53; Romans 1:18, 2:5, 5:9, 5:17; 1 Corinthians 5:7; Hebrews 10: 24-25 (NKJV)

    Be Still
While service is an important part of the Christian life, it sometimes can distract us from other important aspects. We need to be sure that we are making time to listen to, read, and contemplate God’s Word daily. Luke 10: 38-42 (NKJV)
