Summer 2018 Life Groups

Watch for the following Life Group classes to be offered this summer.

Prayer Meeting

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer (Romans 12:12); They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2:42); Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving (Col. 4:2).  Prayer is foundational to the Christian faith. Let’s gather with like-minded believers and see for yourself how God answers the prayers of His people.  The Deacon of the Week will lead this weekly time of intercession in the Fisher’s of Men classroom each Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.
WE SAVED YOU A SEAT: Finding and Keeping Lasting Friendships
In today’s busy world, we’re wired to appear “fine,” warding off authenticity and shielding ourselves from judgment.  We hide behind the hum of busyness to escape intimate friendships with the women God has placed in our lives.  But we do want a seat at the table.  We yearn for authentic relationships and the opportunity to be the opposite of “fine” with people who cheer for us.  But comparison, envy, and entitlement often stop us from pulling out a chair at the table.  Friendships can be hard, making new friends even harder, and maintaining genuine friendship the hardest of all.
Sally Gaertner facilitates this 7-session Bible study on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Green Room. WE SAVED YOU A SEAT explores our relationship with Jesus as the ultimate model for authentic friendship. This study will end in early June 2018.
Beginning May 23rd, Allison Clements will facilitate this course based upon the book How to Deal with Your Emotions book by Claude Townsend.  Contact Allison if you’re interested in attending this Wednesday evening class.  The church will provide the materials, and child care will not be provided.
Dr. David Gibbs, Jr. Video Sermon Series – This course is taking a summer break, but will resume in the fall.
David C. Gibbs, Jr. has spent over 40 years in ministry.  He is the Founder and President of the Christian Law Association, an organization committed to providing free legal counsel to Bible-believing churches and Christians who are experiencing legal obstacles in practicing their religious faith because of governmental regulation, institution, or prohibition of one form or another.  Thomas Welfel facilitates this video series on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in God’s Playhouse.
Ladies Mid-Week Bible Study

Billy Graham’s “Angels” – mid-week study for women

There has never been a time like the present when the subject of angels has created so much interest and attention. Dr. Billy Graham lifts the veil between the visible and the invisible world to give us an eye-opening account of these behind-the-scenes agents. This best-selling classic records the experiences of Dr. Graham and others who are convinced that at moments of special need they have been attended by angels. With keen insight and conviction, Dr. Graham affirms that: angels “think, feel, will, and display emotions” and at death, the faithful will be ushered by angels into the presence of God.  Mary-Ellen Long will lead this study on Wednesdays at 10am in the Annex beginning March 21, 2018.  The cost of the book is $6.00.
During the summer months, 7th-12th graders will meet together on Wednesdays in the Family Life Center from 5:30pm-7:30pm.  There is no dinner provided during the summer, so students will need to eat before they arrive.
Children’s Ministry Summer Schedule
All children through 6th grade should come to the God’s Playhouse classroom for Movie Night on the last Wednesday of each month.  A kid-friendly movie will be shown, and Mrs. Darlene will feed the kids dinner and give them a movie snack bag.
