Fall 2017 Life Groups

The fall Life Groups are in full swing with the following classes available.

Prayer MeetingRejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer (Romans 12:12); They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2:42); Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving

(Col. 4:2).  Prayer is foundational to the Christian faith. Let’s gather with like-minded believers and see for yourself how God answers the prayers of His people.  Pastor Mike Clements and the Deacon of the Week will lead this weekly time of intercession in the Fisher’s of Men classroom each Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.

Max Lucado’s THE STORY

—Tom & Jean Harris facilitate an 8-month timeline Bible survey on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the old parlor. THE STORY, by Max Lucado, is our guide; scriptures and related discussions which emphasize how all the book of the Bible fit together are highlighted. God’s plan, working through history, from creation to the end of the world, is presented in an understandable way.

Finding I AM

—What is the deep cry of your heart?  That ache in your soul that keeps you up at night? The prayer you keep repeating? Jesus not only cares about this deep, spiritual wrestling, but He also wants to step in and see you through it.  Join facilitator Sally Gaertner in the green room on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm for this interactive video study for women. Written by Lysa TerKeurst, and filmed on the streets of Israel, this study explores the seven I AM statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John.  The cost of the learner guide is $15.

Frequency
Hearing God is not something you do.  Hearing God is someone you are.  As believers in Jesus Christ, we naturally want to know how we can hear God’s voice.  Does God speak?  Is He speaking to me?  The good news is, yes, He is speaking.  And like a radio host broadcasting His voice into the airwaves, God speaks all the time.  The question is, are we tuned into the right frequency?  In this Robert Morris study, participants will: gain a better understanding of how to recognize God’s voice, value the voice of the Lord, discern the general voice of God from the specific voice of God, grow in their relationship with the Lord by developing consistent time with His Word, and enjoy drawing closer to their Creator.  Frequency will demystify the process of hearing God and take you to a new level in your faith.  God is speaking.  Are you listening?  Sam Hurt will facilitate this study that begins Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at 6:30 pm in God’s Playhouse.  The cost of the workbook is $6.

“Institute in Basic Life Principles – Basic Seminar”
Most of the conflicts and pressures we experience in life are only symptoms of deeper issues that must be addressed. By understanding how to trace problems to root causes, you can enjoy
lasting solutions to these problems.  By learning principles rather than rules, individuals are equipped to make wise choices and avoid failure. The Basic Seminar is designed to help you understand the cause-and-effect sequences of life.  In a 19 segment video series, Dr. Bill Gothard
addresses these principles and more in this highly concentrated seminar on practical Christianity.  Thomas and Sherrie Welfel will lead this study through the summer in the 5th/6th grade classroom on Mondays at 6:30 pm.

Ladies Weekday Bible Studies

All Things New

—The city of ancient Corinth was a melting pot of cultural experiences to be had, along with the pitfalls of spiritual depravity. Still, Paul wrote to the church in Corinth. Meaning God’s church is meant to thrive in every circumstance in which we find ourselves. Paul’s letter is as timely as ever. Join Mary-Ellen Long as she facilitates this study of the Book of  2 Corinthians.  The course begins Thursday, September 14, 2017, at 10:30 am in the Annex.  The cost of the book is $13.

Jesus, Joy & Java—Are you overly stressed all the time? Overly tired? Are the noise and pace of life wearing you down? Hop off the hamster wheel and join us for a cup of coffee and quiet time with Christ.  Join Darlene McKeen in the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday mornings from 9-11 am and cease striving and know that I am God

(Psalm 46:10).  Donations for childcare are accepted.

Youth IMPACT
Our middle schoolers and high schoolers will begin each Wednesday evening meeting together in the Family Life Center.  After a time of games and announcements, the groups will be separating for Bible study.  Mrs. Joyce Hurt leads the middle schoolers  in a study that speaks to issues preteens and young teenagers are facing during this time in their lives.
Scott Davis meets in the Annex with the high schoolers, where he will lead older teens to dig a little deeper into issues specific to older students.
Once summer begins, 7th-12th graders will meet together on Wednesdays in the Family Life Center from 6:00pm-7:30pm.  During the summer months, students will need to eat dinner before they arrive.
