    Healing Through Faith
The story of Jairus and the woman with a blood disease demonstrates that faith in Jesus is necessary for healing. Both truly believed in Jesus’ ability to heal. Jesus taught his disciples that he had power of disease and over death. A Long Day
Christ begins to work with the disciples to prepare them for the tasks ahead of them. We see in this passage the disciples’ faith being tested as they cross the Sea of Galilee and the miraculous casting out of demons of a gentile man. Jesus proves that He has power over the natural things that occur in our lives and over the evil spirits that wreak havoc in our lives. Mark 4:35-5:20 (NKJV) Parallel passages- Luke 8: 22-39 and Matthew 8: 23-34 Supporting verses: Matthew 9: 37-38; Romans 1: 16 (NKJV)

The Facets of the Kingdom of God
Today we look at the five facets of the Kingdom of God in order to better understand Jesus’ ministry. These facets include the Universal, Spiritual, Theocratic, Messianic, and the Mystery Facets. Brother Mike explains each facet and why it is important that we understand these. Genesis 15: 5-6; Isaiah 49:6; Matthew 12: 39-40; John 1:3; Hebrews 11: 8; 2 Peter 2: 4 (NKJV)

Miraculous Proof That Jesus is the Messiah
The Jewish leadership had already decided that Jesus was not the Messiah, but they couldn’t deny his miracles. There were three distinct miracles Jesus did to prove he was the Messiah- healed a Jewish leper, cast out a demon of a blind and mute Jew, and healed a Jew born blind. Never had these things been done before. So how did the Jewish leadership respond to these miracles? Matthew 12: 22-50; Matthew 8: 1-4; John 9: 1-12; Matthew 9: 27-34; Matthew 4: 23-24; Mark 3: 22 (NKJV)

    Are You the Coming One?
There are times in our lives when we are doubtful and question God about what is going on because our expectations are limited by our knowledge and things don’t happen the way we think they should. This was the situation with John the Baptist. His knowledge and experiences were limited because he was in prison and relying on reports from his disciples. So, he sends a couple of them to ask Jesus if he is the one they have been waiting for. Matthew 11: 1-4, 14-29; Luke 7: 18-28 (NKJV)

    Dealing With The Practical Things
    Series: No Series
In his letter to the Roman Christians, Paul tried to get people to deal with practical things and not get caught up in religious tenets. He presented a task, the method to accomplish the task, the earthly product, and the Heavenly payoff in these verses. Romans 15: 1-6 (NKJV)

Jesus and His Validity Through Genealogy
Jesus is validated as being through the line of Mary (a descendant of Nathan-son of David) by genealogy records. Joseph’s lineage included a curse (Jeremiah 22: 28-30), so Jesus could not have been born through his line. Genesis 3:15; Jeremiah 22: 28-30; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1: 16, 18, 20; Luke 1: 27-33 (NKJV)

    Freedom of Conscience
As we wrap up our study of the Reformation, we conclude with Roger Williams’ move toward Freedom of Conscience-the freedom to worship in one’s own way, including the right not to worship. Prior to 1636, nearly every government on earth assumed responsibility for spiritual as well as political concerns, often invoking laws demanding that citizens worship at a certain church and in certain ways. However, Roger Williams proposed the idea of Freedom of Conscience when he came to the New World. This eventually was the basis for the first amendment to the US Constitution-freedom of religion without government control. Luke 9: 52-56; Romans 5:1 (NKJV)

The Reformation Continues Into the New World
The development of the New World opened up a door for those wanting to separate themselves from the Church of England and establish themselves outside of persecution and within their own revolutionary thoughts. From this religious freedom leaked a fuel for a larger movement of complete freedom for all religious movements apart from governments. Philippians 4: 4-7 (NKJV)

    Baptism Beliefs During the Reformation
Baptism was a paradigm shift in the Reformation. There were lots of disagreements between infant baptism and Baptism after salvation (Believer’s Baptism). People were even imprisoned for baptizing adults after salvation. We look at the events of that time and the common beliefs of that time as well as how those who believed in Believer’s Baptism were persecuted and eventually left for the New World. Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)

    Reformation in England
The Reformation in England plays into why we are where we are today Biblically. As the Bible is being translated into English by Tyndale, we see many new words such as atonement, Passover, and scapegoat being used for the first time. We also see the word baptism being transliterated instead of translated. Bro. Mike explains why all this is important in the way we came to the Bibles of today. Galatians 3:27 (NKJV)

    The Breakdown of the Vernacular
A history of the translations of the Bible is given, beginning in the fourth century with Jerome and continuing through the Reformation to the seventeenth century. As it was translated from the Hebrew to Latin, words were changed thereby changing the meaning as well because the Latin version was influenced by the Catholic Church. In Tyndale’s translation (1525), which was from the Greek to English, the words were given their true meaning. Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)

    Justification By Faith
Justification occurs instantaneously through faith. Martin Luther believed this after studying the Scriptures. However, other religions of the time did not. This is what brought about the Reformation, which spawned many religious denominations from the Catholicism including Lutherans, Calvinists, Anglicans, Presbyterians, etc. Romans 4:4-5, 5:1 (NKJV)

    Martin Luther and the Reformation
Every square inch of land where Luther was at belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. Yet he had the faith and courage to stand against all the religious and political powers of Europe in defense of his beliefs and led the Great Reformation. Romans 1:17; Mark 1:15 (NKJV)
