Are You a Sheep or a Goat?
On the judgement day, God will separate the goats and the sheep. Which group will you fall into? Are you a sheep, a follower of Christ? Or are you a goat, a discontented, contrary individual who has never turned their life over to God. How do you become a sheep? Repent. God warns us to repent or we will perish. He warns us because He wants us to be prepared and ready when our last day on earth comes. (Luke 13: 1-5, Matthew 25: 31-46 HCSB)

    Always Available
Do you ever want to just “check out”? Do you want to hang up a sign that says “Out to Lunch”? God wants us to be available to do his work. In today’s message, we are reminded that God sends us to share the Gospel so that others might be saved. (John 20:21, Philippians 3:10, Matthew 18:11 NKJV)

    Staying in the Race
Sometimes we get weary and discouraged, but God wants us to stay in the race. In Hebrews, we read about how Christ endured the cross, endured hostility, and resisted sin. He stayed in the race and because He did, we can have the gift of salvation. (Hebrews 12: 1-3, 7 NKJV)

    Staying At Your Post
We have been given a race to run and sometimes it is easy to get sidetracked, just like the hare in the story of the Hare and the Tortoise. We, as Christians, will have a time when God wants us to have faith even if we can’t feel Him in our lives. Perhaps we are being persecuted, have doubts, are afraid or unhappy. God wants us to grow our faith so that we trust Him through faith. Then God wants us to be steadfast in our faith and dwell in His will even when we do not fully understand the how and why of what is happening in our lives and in our world. (1 Timothy 4:13-16 NKJV)

Can An Old Dog Learn New Tricks?
In the book, Lessons From a Sheep Dog, Phillip Keller discusses how he begins to train Lass, his rescue collie, with simple one word commands and rewards. As Lass begins to trust and obey Phillip, he moves on to harder commands and hand signals. Lass’s response becomes one of joy at pleasing and serving her master and dog and master become friends. God also works with us to build a relationship of trust and obedience. As we become obedient in small simple ways, God begins to give us more difficult tasks to build our trust in Him and to build our relationship with Him. God calls us “friends” and reveals His will for our lives as we build this relationship with Him. (John 15: 14-15 NKJV)

Learning to Trust the Master’s Touch
Brother Mike continues his series about Lass, the sheep dog, and his master. As Lass learns to trust and respond to his master’s touch, so we must also learn to trust and respond to God. (1 John 4:19)

    Organized Chaos
    Series: Christmas
Sometimes the Christmas story may seem like chaos. After all there is an unwed mother, a betrothed who is not the father, a very long journey to Bethlehem during the pregnancy, no place to stay in the inn, lowly shepherds being the first to be informed of the birth, and a king trying to kill Jesus. Yet in all that seeming chaos, God brings together His great plan for mankind. (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2: 1-17 NKJV)

Few have heard the tale of the Dragon of Christmas. It is not normally a Christmas story. Brother Mike brings this important story to us to help us in our daily struggle to stand fast in our faith and not compromise our faith. (Revelation 12: 1-7 NKJV)

    Lessons From a Sheep Dog
Brother Mike uses the book “Lessons From a Sheep Dog” by Phillip Keller for a new series of sermons. The book tells the story of Lass, a worthless animal thought to be untrainable, who becomes a magnificent and valuable sheepdog - not terribly unlike how God's love can transform our worst characteristics into blessings that serve to further His Kingdom.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly/Joseph vs. Judah

Brother Mike contrasts Joseph and his brother, Judah. Joseph was a man who followed God, even though he had been betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery. He trusted that God had a plan for his life, no matter what the circumstances. Judah, a free man, thwarted God’s will in marrying a Canaanite woman and raising ungodly sons. Yet, Judah repented and turned back to God. So who did God choose for the lineage of Christ? Surprisingly it was Judah. In choosing Judah, God gave us a message of hope and shows us that He can use imperfect people to accomplish His perfect will. (Genesis 37-39 NKJV)

    Danger: Expectations
    Series: No Series
Expectations can lead to disappointment when we attempt to put God in a box and limit Him to our expectations. Instead we should have a spirit of expectancy, knowing that what is happening in our lives will lead toward good even if we don’t know the when, where, or how. Expectancy leads to hope and hope does not disappoint when that hope is place in God and His promises. (Luke 7:19-23; Mark 6:1-5; Matthew 20:10; Philippians 1: 20; Romans 5:5 NKJV)

Psalm 100 counsels us to make a joyful shout to the LORD, regardless of our feelings, agendas, or circumstances. It is important to recognize who God is and His authority over our lives. We should serve the LORD with gladness, thanksgiving, and praise no matter what is happening in our lives. (Psalm 100: 1-2a NKJV)
